Building a capsule wardrobe that works all year
A small edit of pieces that work together — and how to choose them for the way you actually live.
Start with your week
Before you buy anything, look at how you spend your time. A capsule wardrobe for someone in an office looks different from one for someone working from home or travelling often.
Choose a quiet palette
Pick two or three neutrals — ivory, camel, black or olive — and one or two colours you love. Everything should go with almost everything else.
The pieces that do the most work
- A crisp white shirt
- Wide-leg tailored trousers
- A fluid midi skirt
- A fine knit in a neutral
- A long coat or trench
- One dress you can wear day to evening
Finish with scent and colour
The smallest things change an outfit most: a satin lip, a smudge of kohl, a perfume you are known for. Choose them as carefully as the clothes.
